AI systems require access to vast amounts of sensitive client data, increasing potential cybersecurity risks.

A 2023 report revealed that 68% of legal industry respondents cited data security concerns as a barrier to AI adoption, while 62% pointed to privacy and confidentiality issues.[123] In 2024, the National Center for State Courts emphasized that judicial officers must be cognizant of whether they or their staff are entering confidential, sensitive, or draft information into an open AI system when conducting legal research or drafting documents.[124]
